Climate Action for Stronger Naija

About Climate Voices

The Empowering Youth Civil Society to Build Stronger Communities in Nigeria project aims to equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to actively contribute to Nigeria’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

By engaging 15 youth organisations from Delta, Ondo, Enugu, Kaduna, and Nasarawa state, we will:

Build Capacity

Through specialised workshops and training sessions, youth CSOs will learn how to support and implement NAP and NDCs.

Foster Engagement

Promote meaningful dialogues between youth and government authorities, ensuring young voices are heard in policy discussions.

Raise Awareness

Mobilise young people and their communities to understand and act on climate issues.

Support Innovation

Provide seed funding for youth-led climate action projects to drive local solutions.

Why Now?

Climate change poses a significant threat to Nigeria, affecting everything from health to economic stability. This project aims to:

1

Strengthen the voices of young people in climate action, ensuring they are not just observers but active participants in shaping their future.

2

Develop and implement community-driven solutions for climate resilience, ensuring long-term impact.

3

Establish Local Climate Action Networks to foster collaboration and share best practices among youth organisations.

4

Assist government agencies in effectively engaging youth in the implementation of climate policies.

By empowering young leaders, this project contributes to a more resilient and sustainable Nigeria, positioning young people at the forefront of climate action.
